Elon University approached PDG to design, build, and install a donor wall to honor and celebrate the donors of their Elon LEADS Campaign, the most ambitious fundraising campaign in Elon's history. Storytelling was at the forefront of this historic campaign and became a through line during all of their campaign events and programs. Elon wanted the same to be true in their donor recognition, and so began our journey to create a vehicle to bring those stories to life through the art of visual storytelling.
We were also presented with an interesting challenge when designing the 5-screen digital donor wall that is encased in an oak wood surround – creating an interactive component of the display without actually touching the main screens.
The solution – a tablet separated from the main screens, set up as a control panel. The panel creates a space for more in-depth content on specific topics that staff could call up as they walk groups of donors or potential students through the space for tours. The digital donor wall is not only a tool for engaging and thanking their donors, but also to help students who are considering enrolling better understand the role that philanthropy plays in Elon’s culture.

Additionally, even without interacting with the control panel, PDG’s revolutionary content management system, Appellō, allows Elon to curate on-demand content that highlights their four pillars of philanthropy central to the university's success – Engaged Learning, Graduates the World Needs, Iconic Learning Environment, and Mentors Who Matter.
